This winter I had the pleasure of subscribing to Eddie Tanner’s fantastic Deep Seeded CSA. This, as it turns out, is Eddie Tanner.

Swarm

These hedge ants were swarming over their mound on a particularly sunny day in Humboldt County. If I remember correctly, this behavior is an attempt to collect and produce heat in a break in the rain.

Crying Wolf: Or How Photographs Lie

This photograph by Jose Luis Rodriguez won the Veolia Environmental Wildlife Photographer of the Year. But it seems even photographs don’t tell the whole truth as he is being stripped of the award due to the possibility that the wolf in the picture was a trained animal.
